James Prideaux has written about the unlikely relationship that develops between a middle-aged rather stuffy bachelor and the eccentric lady whom he unwittingly hires as his housekeeper. Manley Carstairs had lived with his domineering mother virtually all of his life. After she finally died, he determined to hire a fetching young thing to "fetch" for him in his Victorian home. He ends up with Annie Dankworth, a sticky-fingered bag lady who is woefully short of domestic skills but full of insults.
Directed by Anita Schwaber, "The Housekeeper" features Rosann Potter and John Geever. Ms. Schwaber previously directed "Mary Mary," "Once in a LIfetime," and "Steel Magnolias" at the theatre. Ms. Potter has been acting for about 15 years. Among her credits are "Summer and Smoke" at SLO Little Theatre and "Sylvia" at the Pewter Plough.
